The house went from a poorly dated 1997 mess to a current masterpiece. No more weird angle walls, no more weird angle kitchen, no more plant shelves and nooks, no more 12" x 12" white tile with wide dirty beige grout and carpeting. The only original item left in the house was one white bathtub in a guest bath. This was a total demo full gut remodel; new doors, new molding, new kitchen and 3 bathrooms plus a studio, living room and den. Michael Bishop, his brilliant sub contractors and his trusty project manger, Jonathan did it all. No problems, no complaining, no excuses. Everyone Michael contracts with was polite and pleasant, did their jobs beyond well and at the end of the day left the house clean for the next subcontractor. Teamwork. That said, when choosing a General Contractor for our home renovation on Longboat Key we diligently researched and interviewed candidate GCs. We recently hired Bishop Construction Services to complete a kitchen, master bath, and guest bath renovation of our home in Venice. They are a fantastic group to work with. They stayed on top of every aspect of the renovation. They laid out the plans for the renovation with a list of what would be done each day and which contractor(s) would be there. Michael Bishop accompanied us to pick out our major purchases such as cabinets, counters, floors, and bath tiles. Well I can't say enough about Bishop Construction Services. Michael Bishop has put together a very well oiled machine. His project managers, Mark Mercer and Jonathan, stay right on top of everything. We had walls removed, ceilings done, bathrooms, flooring, painting , plumbing, electrical, etc., and we always knew what contractor was working on our home, daily. Michael led us to pick out cabinets, flooring, counters, then had what he called "Trades Day". We met all the tradesmen that would be working in our home including the demolition team. Bishop Construction is by far the most impressive company that I have ever worked with. From the initial meeting to final inspection, everything went smoothly. Michael has developed a process for his projects which allows him to bring them in on time and within budget. I sent an email one evening to be contacted about renovating my kitchen/living room. Michael called the next morning at 9:00 a.m. and scheduled a meeting that day. He made excellent suggestions for the project. For example, I wanted a 13-foot island, and he advised that I reduce it to 10-foot. I'm so glad I followed his advice! There were two steps in his process that I had never heard of. One was a 'trades day' and the other was a shopping day. Once the contract was signed, he scheduled a 'trades day.' All of the trades who would be working on the project came to see the project. Ultimately, the purpose was to make sure there were no 'hidden' issues that would interfere with the success of the project or impact the budget. The electrician spotted a problem with the electrical box that had never been updated. We were able to make adjustments that still brought the project within budget. A few days later, Michael accompanied me on a shopping trip where I selected tile, cabinets, counter tops, and other accessories. He then built a schedule for each trade. Every part was completed on time. At the end, there was a slight delay with cabinets due to COVID which resulted in a 2-day delay. His subcontractors and staff were very professional and punctual. Each of them cleaned up the premises before leaving for the day. A special thank you to project manager, Jonathon, who went the extra mile to make sure I was happy with the work being done. Soon, I will be renovating our master bath. I wouldn't think of using anyone other than Bishop Construction!
